Do I need a lawyer to get a divorce in Australia?
No. you can apply without a lawyer. Divorce Assist provides one-on-one support with the administrative and procedural requirements. However, we do not provide legal advise or act as your lawyer.
What areas do you service?
We assist individuals across all Australian states and territories, except Western Australia. We work with clients remotely via phone, email and Zoom.
Do you represent me in Court?
No. Most applications don’t require a court appearance. If a hearing is needed, we’ll guide you through what to expect, but we don’t attend court or provide legal representation.
How much does it cost?
Our fees vary depending on the service you need. Some are fixed prices while others depend on factors such as complexity. You’ll receive a clear quote after your initial consultation, with no hidden costs. Court filing fees are paid directly to the court and are not included in our service fees.
How much are the Court’s filing fees?
The Court filing fee is $1125 or $375 if you hold a valid concession card. This fee is paid directly to the Court during the application process.
Can Divorce Assist help if I’ve already started the application?
Yes, if you’ve already begun the process and need help correcting, completing or submitting your application, we can step in at any stage and support you through to lodgement.
Do you assist with parenting or property matters?
No, we only assist with divorce applications. If you need assistance with parenting, property or spousal maintenance matters, we recommend seeking independent legal advise from a family lawyer.
